She's a goer & sweet looker!

It has been a long time.

Took 'Repro' out for a long blast the other weekend at the Mods v's Rockers meet down in Brighton, had a blast and she rode very well even though still running the girl in. managed to push the throttle to 80klms with lots more to go, so watch this space for a top end speed test…

Now it's enjoyment time!!

Its been a while since I could really appreciate the 'REPRO'.
I have ironed out the last few niggles she had.
New speedo drive which is chromed and not Viet plastic which makes a real difference, fitting in perfectly. Also the new MALOSSI addition, Wow! what a great pipe, instand powerband and revs, has a wee flat spot half throttle but over that and she goes pumping out the power. I will pay close attention to the plug which now is looking good, no oil deposits and a nice brown colour. I have the 30mm PWK carbie on that was jetted for the other race pipe I had fitted so should be all good. (I had to drop the engine to get this baby on, bolt was inserted the wrong way and wouldn't come out as it was hitting on the frame). All I need to do now is some pinstripes and she's ready for spring. Give me a toot on the road if you see me.
The black metal top left is my fabricated guard bracket made by Derek @ Scooterlabs, Nice!

'REPRO' finished and ready for spring.

Damm Murphys!

Well, 6.30pm getting dark and thought I'd take the beast out for a run to my local Dan's, it has been a full 2 weeks since I revvved the old girl. I pick up a bottle-o-red and fire her back up, just out the car park and PING! clutch snapped. Oh bugga!! push her home and drink the red. Saving grace is at least I got there to buy it.
Cable change tomorrow I guess. Oh the joys.

New Pipe is coming soon, Malossi Race Pipe, can't wait.
Ring-din-din-din-din-din…

YEE-HA!

The sign of relief must have been classic on my face this morning.
I rocked up to Carlton VICROADS 8.30am interview, having passed about 5 boys in blue on the ride in (no numberplate etc, etc) filled in the paperwork, checked the numbers and Bobs yer uncle…

REGO!!!

Now I can start the pinestriping, exhaust tunning and wait for summer!!

IT PASSED THE ROADWORTHY…

Bejesus!
Got to Dereks and tried tightening the headset, only to find it seazed on solid with a small adjustment! Something not right here me finks, got a new headset and bearings from GPS and found out that the bike has been running an old no-bearing race bottom cup, and the forks had been running a bearing race, so in went the silver baws all greased up with no where to go other than around smoothly, and bobs yer uncle… well a wee bit of fettling of the front brake/speedo cable etc.
So I have to give a big shout out to Derek for his handy work and patience. Cheers!
watch this space for a rego sticker, GULP!!!

Roadworthied and ready to go…NOT!

Well, I set out on thursday morning, to be at Eurobrit at 9am for the roadworthy. The scoot road well, first real ride I've had and it was sweet. To date we have had a new front end, fork/headset/linkage/spring/damper/hubs/shoes/internals on the scoot. Front brake works now, not out of true all sweet. So back to the roadworthy…Loose headset bearings PAH, all good apart from the loose head, so back home I came with my tail between my legs!! Not a happy camper!
So fingers crossed if Derek (scooterlabs) and I can get it tight on tues, back I will go to get the cert to be on the road. Watch this space.

(Below are the most up to date piccies, new race seat and base, front end etc. (if it fails again it might be up for sale so any interest drop me an email)

Project 'REPRO'

Its been going on for around a year and a half now, along side the pain of neck and arm this has added an even bigger pain in my life!! But there is life at the end of the tunnel, I'm crossing my fingers while typing this. Project 'REPRO' a 66 Vespa VBB with PX 150 engine, polished & ported with a 30mm carbie and race pipe, flat black finish with race seat. The front end is needing full rebuild with Rally hub/linkage etc as the brake/hub set up it had was shite, all be it NEW! PAH! it was out of true and warped, we tried 2 new hubs and still shite. Derek from Scooterlabs has had the nitemare of rebuilding the front end with 10' fork and the refurbed Rally bits. Striping is coming next, hopefully to finish it off so it can be registered, a wee bit of nostalgic pinestripe to finish of the look - RETRO would have been nice but 80's inspired psychobilly scooterboy called for 'REPRO'.

What a weekend!!

It started off good, 1 hr on the rollers, walking the dog, then on sunday arvo the referred pain in arm and leg started rearing its ugly head! NOT happy, thoughts are bad & sad at the moment.
Well at least Flanders made me happy, WOW, hats off to Chavanel what a beast of a ride, I guess it was expected from Cancellara, ANIMAL. I thought Geriant Thomas had a superb ride pulling back the break on several occasions. Oh well back to Monday lets hope it get pain free! Imagine how these boys feel, Flanders then Roubaix OUCH! Tom Tom for next week?

Weekend warrior

2 days, 1hr of sweat, pain and total enjoyment every week.
My inspiration to get back turning the pedals was the man himself Graeme Obree, I met him a few times when I lived in Scotland. What a man! Check out his DVD and the battles he had with Chris Boardman when the two were in 'battle of the bikes' trying to overcome each other for the individual pursuit world championships. There is some great footage of Hi-tech Boardman testing with wires and heartrates in a controlled environment. In total contrast, Orbree sweating astride a rusted old home trainer, cotter pin cranks, belt drive in his back yard in Ayrshire, listening to a tape recorder! WOW! If that can't inspire you I don't know what will!

I have a great story about Graeme, back in the day when I did alot of time trials, Graeme was getting interviewed by the local Dunfermline press about his chances of winning the race and what special enhancements he has devised recently, whilst he was getting ready he started spraying WD40 on his knees and rubbing it in, with a smile on his face looking at the reporter saying 'Aye it's great for lubing up the knees'. Not sure if it was published but the reporter was scribbling in his black book. The man won by a few mins over 25 miles.

Watch this space, I'll upload an image with me in the shed, sure to give you a laugh!!
